Signs of Sepsis
What is Sepsis?
Sepsis is when your body fights too hard against infection. Sometimes important organs will get damaged.
If not treated quickly, sepsis can cause death.
Sepsis in Adults
- Blue, pale or blotchy skin, lips or tongue
- A rash that does not fade when your roll a glass over it
- Difficulty breathing, breathlessness or breathing very fast
- Acting confused, slurred speech or not making sense
Sepsis in Children
- Blue pale or blotchy skin, lips or tongue
- A rash that does not fade when you roll a glass over it
- Difficulty breathing, breathlessness or breathing very fast
- A weak, high-pitched cry that’s not like their normal cry
- Less responsive or uninterested in normal activities
- Being sleepier than normal or difficult to wake
If you spot any signs of sepsis call 999 or go to A&E.
